New Summer "Series", Minecraft Monday or Whatever

I have recently been inspired to start a new monthly series of post. They will be based on Minecraft, I decided to call it "Cubed". Minecraft fans are going to want to be here on a certain Mondays of each month, all throughout the summer. Cubed will feature awesome creations, Snapshots of what I'm doing, News, and maybe some more things that must happen in Minecraft. Cubed will be starting June 3rd and ending August 23rd. So expect some awesome Minecraft stuff heading your way on Josh Siebers' Awesome Blog this Summer (I'm trying not to make this sound like an infomercial, but I think I'm failing).

See ya there!

Open Discussion # 9 Josh's Recent Reads...

Recently I haven't been posting anything because I have been so involved in books. I don't want to brag but I'm a good reader. I decided that I should write about what I'm reading so that maybe you will read them and then I can talk about them and it will be just a swell time and what not or stuff so, uh, here you go!

One of the most recent things I've read and finished is The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I read the first one about a year ago or so and I really liked it. I read the book before I saw the movie but this time it was different. One thing that I noticed is that you can watch a Lord of the Rings movie without spoiling the book. The Lord of the Rings is just such a detailed and complicated story, it would be impossible to put everything from the book into the movie without making it a 2-days long film. So after seeing the second Lord of the Rings movie and reading the book in that order, I can conclude that it doesn't matter rather you read or watch it first. :)
I also was intrigued when I found one of the original copies from the early fifties at my library. On the Copyrights page it said that that copy was published in 1954. IT even had the original cover!

Another book that I recently finished was a Star Wars book. I have only read one other Star Wars book in my life and that was an Old Republic book called Knight Errant. This one was completely different. It was called The Wrath of Maul or The Wrath of Darth Maul, I've heard it either way. This was a really good book. It was a cross over between a prequel to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and a sequel to the Star Wars: Darth Plagueis book, as well as a stand alone novel. This told the story of Darth Maul's life from start to finish. In the end, it makes you feel sorry for Maul, but happy that his life was told. The story begins about 15 years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and ends at the very beginning of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series.
Over all, this is a very good book for hardcore Star Wars fans and even a good starting novel for new fans. I would recommend, though, not to judge the book by its disturbing prologue. I also like the blurry affect on the cover, so don't think that it's just ow it looks on a computer screen. I just had to point that out. :)

How Does The Man of Steel Shave? - Josh Siebers' Answer

Gillette has been making a big deal about the fact that Superman has a beard in the new Man of Steel trailer, and now they have science geniuses making their predictions. If you go to HowDoesHeShave.com, you can cast your vote and make up your own theory. I not only posted my idea on the website, but am also going to tell you guys right here, on Josh Siebers' Awesome Blog!

My idea is based of of one word, heat. I think that he gets naked, then, when no one is looking, he flies off into the sun. Not only will all his whiskers burn up, but he will also get a "1 Up" with his powers, because we all know that he gets his powers from out solar system's sun. Unfortunately, if you post your idea on the website, no one will be able to vote for you. But who knows? maybe some High school nerd will like your idea and tell all of his other nerd friends right as they go to pick up the new Superman Issue from their local comic book store... never mind.

Nightwing TV series?

This is actually about six months old, but it didn't get the attention it deserved so I'm showing it on here to maybe raise its views on YouTube. It's a trailer for a fan made Nightwing miniseries. The actual feature hasn't been released yet but the trailer looks professional so that's good enough for me.

It's called Nightwing: The Series, and after watching this, I can't see why Warner Bros. can't make this happen, look how Smallville, all of the Batman TV series, and all of the Wonder Woman TV series, a Nightwing TV series could happen!

Signs That Your Watching a Steven Spielberg Movie

1. Steven Spielberg hardly ever has big opening title sequences to his movies. The first three Indiana Jones movies had a title on the screen for about a second, then it went back to the movie like nothing happened. The fourth one said it in small print were we could barely see it. Unlike some directors like J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon, you can't expect much excitement in the opening credits.

2. Steven Spielberg usually has kids either starring or co-starring in his movies. Look at War Horse, The Adventures of Tin Tin, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Empire of the Sun, all of those have kids as a major part of the plot.

3. Steven Spielberg must be intrigued by the civil war or he wouldn't either reference it or make several movies about it. Lincoln and War Horse are his two biggest-budget Civil War Movies.

4. Steven Spielberg usually has a pretty famous cast in his movies, and somehow his direction kind of trains them to take on roles that you could barely imagine until it happens. Could you have seen Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln before you saw Lincoln? Exactly...

Review: ComiXology

http://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ComiXology-Logo-Dark-Grey.png
For this week's review I decided to review another app. This one is a little more nerdy than the last one. It's actually pretty popular now so I half-way expect you to know what it is when I say it. It's called "ComiXology" It's available on the Android Market, Google Play, and The App Store. Basically what the app does is let you read comics wherever you go without carrying a box of comics you just bought at that comic store down the road. You can half as many comics as you want, as long as you don't fill up all your space on the hardrive/SD card. Free comics are released every week, plus the best quality and new comics never get any higher than $2.99! Marvel, DC, Dynamite, and others are available to you whenever you log on. It doesn't matter what you're interested in. Plus, if you download enough comics in a certain series, you will get alerts that tell you when a new issue in that series is released right on your ComiXology home page.

Overall, this is a great app and I highly recommend it for newcomers to comics and big time comic nerds. I give it a 4.9/5 :) Also, that there wasn't an open discussion yesterday, this is my excuse to make up for it!

Batman: Arkham Origins - First Trailer is Here!

You may have seen the teaser trailer for the new Batman game, Batman: Arkham Origins, I had to say that the game looks promising, even though it was only a thirty-second fight between Batman and Deathstroke. But now, we have a first trailer to the epic new game. This contains some awesome fights and really good graphics, I can't wait to play this game. Just thinking about it, you're probably not reading this, your watching the video below these words. So what, you came for the trailer so, uh, enjoy!

Pretty cool right, This game will definitely be one of those moneymakers coming in this fall like Watch Dogs and Battlefield 4. I hope you're as excited as I am for this game. One thing I want to point out is the rate that news for this game. It's one of the most anticipated games of the year and we're waiting weeks at a time to hear something new! games like G.T.A  V, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Remember Me have news coming in every few days. In case you haven't seen the awesome pictures on the cover of a recent GameInformer magazine, here they are!

That pretty much wraps up the Batman-related news for today, I will keep you updated with the latest Batman news as it's released. Thanks for reading! :)

An Angry Birds Movie?

After a long wait, a movie for the hit app has an official release date. Sony has promised an Angry Birds movie for at least two years now, but here we go! Angry Birds has been officially confirmed for a summer 2016 release. My only concern is that the targeted release date may be too late. The game was released by Rovio in 2009, and currently, not a whole lot of news has been coming up recently about the app franchise. By 2016, the game will already be seven years old. The 8 year old kids that adored the game might just be too old to think that the game is cool. The angry bird plush toys have even died down in sales recently. Michael Bay was rumored to direct, but now directing Transformers 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that isn't as likely. Hopefully the movie will regain audiences and fans, considering that the idea isn't as likely as a movie about Call of Duty. I think that an angry birds movie would be best as an animated movie. Still, the idea is almost as unrealistic as a Minecraft movie!

You may know that I have recently taken a break from my blog to work on a report. Well I presented it yesterday so I should be posting stuff now.

Minecraft Updates 2 coming, Injustice and stuff - Updates 5.11.13

I sat down with Nathan again and we came up with some more Minecraft Updates that MUST happen. These could either be mod adoptions or completely new ideas. At the bottom of the post, I will link to the first Minecraft Updates article. I would also like to say that I have added this Minecraft "series" to the Monday optional Minecraft Adventure thingy. Minecraft Monday or whatever you want to call it! I also want to clear up the fact that there wasn't a review for Injustice Gods Among us when I said there would because it was bugged. I think I got it fixed so you can go and read that now. Again, the link will be at the bottom of this post. For the Injustice review, I don't have a PS3, and I don't feel like going out and buying it for Xbox, so I have it for the iPad. Not to worry, I've seen at least three hours of Xbox gameplay, even though it doesn't really count as personal experience.

Bonus Review - Injustice: Gods Among Us

I am so sorry that I have this up a while after the game was released. I had it written for a while now, but the post was bugged. It's finally up. Hopefully, you understand my opinion on the game, even if you have already played it (you probably have). I am also aware that I made a review for the online Bracket before the game was released... You probably don't care but still...

I just want to start off by saying that this game has no story-line. All the heroes are fighting different versions of each other for no reason. There is a comic book series but who would read when you have this awesome game. Nightwing from the New 52 could fight himself or a different version of himself. That's the thing with battle arena games, you can fight yourself...
The game has characters from the the classic, New 52, Regime, and Insurgency versions.

Injustice Gods Among Us has also been a massive viral success on YouTube. You can check out some Game play from Smosh Games by ckicking the following link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzVqTBV1caw

I highly recommend this game on iPad if you don't have have any of the available consoles. The graphics are great, the action is awesome, plus, there's teams! I speak type from experience. I have played it on iPad and Xbox.

As a special bonus from NetherRealm games, It's Free!

Report taking my time...

Hello, I know it's been almost a week since I last posted things. I have currently been working on a big report that's taking up a good chunk of my time. Don't worry, I haven't lost interest or abandoned the blog. In fact, I have a lot of posts on paper that I worked up in my free time, those should all be up sometime this weekend or later. I won't have an Open Discussion Friday because I will be working on a special Mother's day draft in my free time, and unfortunately, I didn't already have one typed.

Flow Frenzy Review

This week, I will be reviewing an app that I've recently found addicting. Almost addicting as Minecraft. It's called Flow Frenzy. This is puzzle game where you have to connect different colored dots on a very limited-spaced grid. The lines are called flows. The object of the game involves thought, time, and skill. As your skills develop, the levels get harder. You start with a simple 5x5 grid, and work your way up to a 9x9 grid. You can also design your own level, using a grid with a maximum of 14x14. If you happen to be stuck on a level, you can use one of three given hints. Extra hints can be purchased through Google Play/App Store or by sharing your success on Facebook. I highly recommend patience, obviously, when playing a game like this. I, personally, have rage-quit several times, I hope that you don't have the same trouble that I have had. Oh, I forgot to mention that the game is free, so you won't being paying money have fun, like a lot of good games. I have it for my Android phone but it is also available for various tablets and iPod Touches. I also highly recommend being a good distance away from a mobile hot spot, or in range of Internet connection, because of ads. If it isn't possible, than you can also turn your device horizontal to avoid the ads being on the actually grid. I promise that you will be addicted to this game like I am. That's all I have for now. If it isn't posted already, get ready to read my Injustice Gods Among us game review. I reviewed that Battle Arena Bracket earlier.

Thanks for reading and the 1000 readers!

Should Apple Make a Gaming Console?

Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft. Those are the current gaming console creators. I see Microsoft in there, but what about the company's "enemy"? Why can't Apple make a gaming console. It should be called the iGamer. I highly recommend that Apple should make a gaming console. This is a short post, but maybe I'll get to the details in a longer post. Or you should do it, I'll add a link in the debate page to show your support.
