Marvel’s Infinity #1 Review

I was able to pick up a copy of this new comic on release day. It took me a week to gather my thoughts on it. I was actually really excited ever since I got the Infinity Preview at during Free Comic Book Day last May. Once I got my hands on it, I could tell it was going to be epic. Jim Cheung’s art and Mark Morales colors made the event more exciting. I also have to say that in my opinion, the Infinity story was/is Jonathan Hickman’s Masterpiece. I read it a few times and had to make up my mind. That’s why it took almost a week to write this review. I haven’t read the Tie-ns yet, by I hate to say that they probably aren’t nearly as good as this. Avengers and New Avengers are excellent series, so I expect great things. I haven’t read a single Thunderbolts, Captain Marvel or Avengers Assemble. I could easily see Marvel’s Infinity replace Marvel Now. Then I would think that The New 52 is going down! I want to see more of these movie-like storylines in the future. That’s why I can’t wait until September 4th, the release of Infinity #2. I’m hoping and expecting another round of Hickman and Cheung, along with the amazing talents they bring to the Comic Event. Whenever I do a review, I like to put one of thise Blue-Ray cover quotes. Obviously this will never go anywhere but it’s funny doing it.

“You never want it to end!”

Review: iHome iHM60LY 3.5mm Aux Portable Speaker

Today I'm review something new. I've never reviewed a piece of media or technology before on this blog. So I decided to try. This is an iHome Speaker that I've had for about 8 months now. It's probably the best portable speaker that you will ever get. It can fit right in your briefcase or pocket, and makes amazingly clear noise. This is starting to sound like an infomercial so I'll slow down. The iHM60LY 3.5mm Aux Portable Speaker is a great speaker that works really well and is very convenient. The device has many uses, and can make your amateur home movie experience boost to the next level. It works great for both music and movies. In other words, all types of media. For example, you can connect multiple speakers together to really make some noise. You can also connect your headphones or whatever to your iHome raising the volume max. On any Apple product, it raises the max volume by at least 6 bars. The speaker can be charged while in use, so you don't need to wait for your device to be charged up. It's definitely one of the loudest speakers I've ever experienced. I always take this with me on vacations. It's really light too. It probably looks light, but I consider that a benefit because some people use those surround sound speakers that are giant chord messes on the floor. just 3 of these is pretty much equivalent to a movie theater. Okay not really, but close. They are also really not all that expensive. I got mine for $20 at Walmart. Go out and bye it, use it, and never regret it! The last thing awesome about this speaker is that a small red light will go on when your speaker isn't charged. The light will be blue when it is in use or when it is charged. Speaking of batteries, it has great battery life. You can watch 3 or for movies before you neen to connect it to a device for charging. But yeah, cou can connect it to your laptop or iPad or anything and it will automatically be charging.

Tip: Watch J.J. Abrams' Star Trek with 2 of these.

Like almost all iHome speakers, they connect to your phones and tablets and iPods and stuff like that. Like you couldn't tell by the text features that you could. Overall, this is a great product, I almost consider this perfect. I can't find anything wrong with it.

Thanks for reading hopefully it wasn't written like an infomercial.

Review: Marvel's Civil War by Stuart Moore

This isn't a back up post. I actually Just Finished Marvel's Civil War by Stuart Moore. You May know that I'm on vacation right know and I've been doing a lot of reading. This book was a very "blogsworthy" novel, it especially fits the theme of this blog. So I decided to review it.

You may have heard of Civil War by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. It was a great comic mini-series. It changed The Marvel Universe completely. It sold over 250,000 copies per issue. Of course, when something gets that popular, someone else has to do it to try and to get popular. That's Not the case here. Civil War by Stuart Moore is a Novel Adaption of the great work by Millar and McNiven. The Book is about 300 pages long and has about 30 chapters.

In the story, the age of heroes has been dying.   J. Jonah Jameson, the editor of the Daily Bugle has issued a forced registration of all the Heroes and their powers. Iron Man thinks it's a bad idea, but yet necessary step, while Captain America thinks its a hideous assault on America's Freedom. And So comes a Civil War.  Captain America and His Team vs. Iron Man and His team. All of the Avengers, some Guardians of the Galaxy, stand alone heroes, and even Villains are forced to take sides. The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, everyone. The X-Men are pretty much trapped inside the walls of their own school. The Thunderbolts think that they're their own team. The world of Evil brakes loose. And the battleground: America!

Overall this is a great book. The pacing is good. There's some Mild Language like there was in the comics. Not like how language ruined the Transformers Franchise. some of the ending is a bit questionable. But this is still an interesting, fun, edge of your seat book.
(I know that sounds like a movie, but I really felt that way). I would not recommend this book for Marvel newbies or big fans of The classic Marvel Masterworks.       3.5 Stars!
I want to do one of those DVD Cover style quotes Like I did for Man of Steel.

"Epic! Stuart Moore is an Amazing Storyteller!"

Man of Steel Review

If you read my most recent updates post, you might know that I recently went to go see Man of Steel. I actually saw it Thursday but I wanted to really think about the movie a little more than i would for a normal movie. Normal not meaning bad, just, different. I actually consider Man of Steel different than other movies. It just had an interesting feel...

Man of Steel was overall a great movie. The big name cast was part of the success. The visual effects were outstanding. It's easy to say that Superman is now back with the rest of the world. I mean, there hasn't been a good Superman movie since the 70's. Superman 2-4 were okay. Superman Returns was an insult to DC Entertainment. And I never really liked any of the cartoons. Smallville was okay, but I honestly think that Man of Steel makes Smallville kind of boring.

The Movie was almost always giving you that edge-of-your-seat thrill. Man of Steel can connect with The Dark Knight Trilogy. With Chris Nolan in the producer's chair, it totally gives you that Dark Knight feel. Man of Steel, in a way, is a mix of Superman and Inception. It jumps back in time without really giving you a warning. Though, it's not as complicated as Inception, Man of Steel is without a doubt, one of the Best Movies of the Summer. I think it is the best Superhero movie of the summer. I have high hopes for The Wolverine, but by the trailers, it completely separates itself from the rest of the rest of the X-Men franchise. I honestly didn't like Iron Man 3. That's why, Man of Steel deserves a 9.4/10 rating. The beginning was a little slow and dark, but the movie picked up fast.

One of the things that helped earn that 9.4 rating was Superman's new suit. It looked way better without the spandex underwear and the ginormous boots. The great thing was, he didn't design the suit. It was modern apparel on Krypton.

To wrap things up, Man of Steel was an interesting and fun movie. Even though the same thing happened in this movie that happened in all science fiction movies now... They destroy the big city. Metropolis was trashed in the end. I think DC Entertainment finally has a Superman to brag about. Now if only we can give some other heroes a chance. Aquaman, or The Flash. And please make a better Green Lantern movie!
Now for my last sentence, I want to say one of those quotes that you see in ads or on the DVD cover...

"Best Superhero Movie of the Summer!"

Vacation, Man of Steel, & Stuff - Updates 6.22.13

It's been a while since I posted anything on the blog. I just got back from a great vacation. I didn't do anything with the blog, because I didn't have Internet access where I was. I also could have used a break. It was fun, but I have not abandoned you. Fresh post from before vacation are ready to be put up, and I always have three or four drafts being typed at once. Unfortunately, there will be no Cubed this week, mostly because I like to revise and edit those, and I never had anything typed and stuff. Excuses, excuses...
But I have not abandoned you. What I did do this past week was discover a new magazine/website. It's called Geek. Geek Magazine is pretty much a more professional and expansive version of my blog. I think I could really use this as a top source or inspiration. It is on my Favorite Sites/Sources page at the top if you click that. But the other thing did was go see Man of Steel! I'm a normal guy so I can't see everything as soon as it comes out. I saw it Thursday, so not even a week after it came out. Pretty good. I won't bee reviewing it but after I cover some other blog-related topics, I will sort of discuss the movie. So it's kind of a double post. It has updates and some of my ideas on the movie.
I also want to mention that I registered for ArmadaCraft! Armadacraft is a site for the much anticipated Minecraft Server by CaptainSparklez. It's a blog and a social network in one site. So go register, you must have Minecraft though, or it doesn't let you. But go register, then friend me or comment on my wall. My Username is HawkeyeJosh. Comment on the wall and maybe we can play some survival games or Super Craft Bros on a scheduled time and server. I will reply to those comments. On ArmadaCraft. Check me out!
Next I want to say thanks for all the positive comments on a lot of my posts. It's really inspiring and helpful. Some of the comments, i don't quite understand, but it's a compliment to someone, so thanks.
There's a little bit of constructive criticism but that only makes the blog better.
Next, the blog is on it's way to 2000 readers, so thanks for that If we can get to 2000 by mid July, I will write Cubed every Monday. Let me know if I should have Nathan help me. 2000 by mid
July...

As promised, I decided to do a mini-discussion on the topic of Man of Steel. To start, let me say that Superman snapped Zod's neck, which killed him. Zod's army trashed Metropolis. It ends with everyone calling him Superman and they respect his help fighting villains. There, if you didn't see man of Steel yet, and you just ignored the spoiler warning, I probably just ruined the experience for you.
I gave the movie a 9.5 out of 10. It was great!

Open Discussion # 9 Josh's Recent Reads...

Recently I haven't been posting anything because I have been so involved in books. I don't want to brag but I'm a good reader. I decided that I should write about what I'm reading so that maybe you will read them and then I can talk about them and it will be just a swell time and what not or stuff so, uh, here you go!

One of the most recent things I've read and finished is The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I read the first one about a year ago or so and I really liked it. I read the book before I saw the movie but this time it was different. One thing that I noticed is that you can watch a Lord of the Rings movie without spoiling the book. The Lord of the Rings is just such a detailed and complicated story, it would be impossible to put everything from the book into the movie without making it a 2-days long film. So after seeing the second Lord of the Rings movie and reading the book in that order, I can conclude that it doesn't matter rather you read or watch it first. :)
I also was intrigued when I found one of the original copies from the early fifties at my library. On the Copyrights page it said that that copy was published in 1954. IT even had the original cover!

Another book that I recently finished was a Star Wars book. I have only read one other Star Wars book in my life and that was an Old Republic book called Knight Errant. This one was completely different. It was called The Wrath of Maul or The Wrath of Darth Maul, I've heard it either way. This was a really good book. It was a cross over between a prequel to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and a sequel to the Star Wars: Darth Plagueis book, as well as a stand alone novel. This told the story of Darth Maul's life from start to finish. In the end, it makes you feel sorry for Maul, but happy that his life was told. The story begins about 15 years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and ends at the very beginning of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series.
Over all, this is a very good book for hardcore Star Wars fans and even a good starting novel for new fans. I would recommend, though, not to judge the book by its disturbing prologue. I also like the blurry affect on the cover, so don't think that it's just ow it looks on a computer screen. I just had to point that out. :)

Review: ComiXology

http://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ComiXology-Logo-Dark-Grey.png
For this week's review I decided to review another app. This one is a little more nerdy than the last one. It's actually pretty popular now so I half-way expect you to know what it is when I say it. It's called "ComiXology" It's available on the Android Market, Google Play, and The App Store. Basically what the app does is let you read comics wherever you go without carrying a box of comics you just bought at that comic store down the road. You can half as many comics as you want, as long as you don't fill up all your space on the hardrive/SD card. Free comics are released every week, plus the best quality and new comics never get any higher than $2.99! Marvel, DC, Dynamite, and others are available to you whenever you log on. It doesn't matter what you're interested in. Plus, if you download enough comics in a certain series, you will get alerts that tell you when a new issue in that series is released right on your ComiXology home page.

Overall, this is a great app and I highly recommend it for newcomers to comics and big time comic nerds. I give it a 4.9/5 :) Also, that there wasn't an open discussion yesterday, this is my excuse to make up for it!

Flow Frenzy Review

This week, I will be reviewing an app that I've recently found addicting. Almost addicting as Minecraft. It's called Flow Frenzy. This is puzzle game where you have to connect different colored dots on a very limited-spaced grid. The lines are called flows. The object of the game involves thought, time, and skill. As your skills develop, the levels get harder. You start with a simple 5x5 grid, and work your way up to a 9x9 grid. You can also design your own level, using a grid with a maximum of 14x14. If you happen to be stuck on a level, you can use one of three given hints. Extra hints can be purchased through Google Play/App Store or by sharing your success on Facebook. I highly recommend patience, obviously, when playing a game like this. I, personally, have rage-quit several times, I hope that you don't have the same trouble that I have had. Oh, I forgot to mention that the game is free, so you won't being paying money have fun, like a lot of good games. I have it for my Android phone but it is also available for various tablets and iPod Touches. I also highly recommend being a good distance away from a mobile hot spot, or in range of Internet connection, because of ads. If it isn't possible, than you can also turn your device horizontal to avoid the ads being on the actually grid. I promise that you will be addicted to this game like I am. That's all I have for now. If it isn't posted already, get ready to read my Injustice Gods Among us game review. I reviewed that Battle Arena Bracket earlier.

Thanks for reading and the 1000 readers!

Review - Injustice Gods Among Us Battle Arena Bracket

If You've checked in on the DC Comics website recently, than I'm guessing you have heard about the online bracket of the heroes and villains. I don't really want to say the winners and losers are because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't checked it out yet. The bracket ended two weeks ago, but I decided I wasgoing to review the actual game. I was persuaded to review the bracket before the game.
The Game brings all, or most, of the of the current superheroes from the DC universe together for an ultimate battle that apparently, could wipe out the planet. The reason why they're fighting isn't confirmed, but you know, who plays games with story lines anymore huh? I do find that kind of boring that all these games do now-a-days is fight. (Okay, Mario and Wii Sports are excluded). I hope that DC can do a good job of bringing an epic story to a seemingly epic game. Even though it's out, I haven't played it

I am also excited because in the bracket game-play, the heroes have they're New 52 style costumes on. Obviously, no underwear outside of the pants, no completely cloth suits. The Flash looks great by the way. I hope the bracket idea will get more people excited about this game.

That's all for this Friday but I am almost always posting new stuff on Fridays, or at least eight things a week so come around soon.

Thanks for reading

Review: Blogging For Dummies

Yeah! Friday!
So This Week is a review, so I am going to review a book that actually helped get me started as a blogger a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
Bling! It was a real help. It had everything from Starting a blog through Weebly to making a blogging business trough Blogger. Obviously, I use Blogger. I really enjoyed flipping through the pages sucking up all the knowledge I needed and TADA! look at the blog now. I think that it's weird that people refer their blog as a website. A website is like youtube.com or google.com. If it has a .blogspot.com. or .weebly.com    that means its a BBBBLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! That is exlained really well in the book. Fine, consider me a dummy. Just because I read a For Dummies book doesn't mean I'm a dummy!

Review: CaptainSparklez

It's Friday and that means a review or open discussion. Last week was an open discussion so this week is a rrview. Speaking of that, tomorrow is a bonus open discussion because of the late Minecraft adventure. But today is today so let's get down to business. As you probably already read today's review is on CaptainSparklez. If you don't know who he is he is a famous youtube star who has almost 3,000,000 subscribers. What he mainly he does is play video games and stream it on YouTube. He plays Call of Duty, Happy Wheels, but he's more famous for playing Minecraft. His real name is Jordan Maron. CaptainSparklez sometimes plays adventure maps on Minecraft his 2 friends Mark and Nick. He is most well known for Minecraft Survival and SkyBlock. Jordan is a normal 21-year-old; he lives in an apartment and loves video games. He has been featured on other populer youtube channels like thefinebros and digbuildlive. That pretty much wraps up this week's review. But don't forget tomorrow's bonus open discussion. Or to subscribe to CaptainSparklez!

I know this is kind of short but I have so much planned out for this next week I have a bunch of drafts that I'm looking over that will be released all throughout this coming week starting 1/13/13

Review: Smosh Games

One of my favorite channels on YouTube is Smosh Games. You might have heard of Smosh, the comedic group, Ian and Anthony, they're the number 1 most subscribed to on YouTube. Smosh Games is a different story. Smosh teamed up with another gaming channel, Clevver Games. Now they make a bunch of great videos with Jovenshire Lasercorn and Sohinki. They have a bunch of great shows like Super Mari Fun Time, Game Bang and Gamer Nation.

I love the channel, subscribed myself and think you should subscribe too (if you aren't one of the million that already subscribed).

follow both my blogs.
