Open Discussion #10: Batman/Superman Movie: Why Should it Happen?

The first Superman / Batman comic was very successful. I wonder if a movie would also be successful? Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was very successful, so was Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. It's obvious that many people like Superman and Batman. Would it just be crazy to have our two favorite superhero team-up? It would probably be the best DC team up movie since Watchmen. Unfortunately no plans are made for that to happen. But we can all dream! So, for this post, I am going to do a bunch of Batman / Superman movie talk. First of all, who would direct? Zack Snyder did an amazing job of directing Man of Steel, but I think that for either Man of Steel 2, The Justice League, or Batman / Superman, I think there should be someone new. I'm sure that Christopher Nolan would do a great job of bringing Batman and Superman together on the big screen. I also think that Tom Welling could do the same. After all, he has played Superman for 10 years in the show Smallville and has directed part of the 10th season.
Does anyone agree. I think that wraps up the 10th Open Discussion. I've noticed that this is only number ten when I've been doing this blog for 7 months. I hope to get back on track soon.

:)

Sorry it's late.

Open Discussion #8: Superhero Summer! (With Help From Entertainment Weekly)

This summer has big things planned at the theaters, and I have help from the experts at Entertainment Weekly! As the title reads, Action-Packed, we will mainly be focusing on the big action and sci-fi films. Hangover fans will have to their homework on the EW website! You can find these following writers' full articles in the Entertainment Weekly: Issue #1255 with the Summer Movie Preview. Let's get started.

IRON MAN 3
Is there a better way to start the summer with the world's coolest playboy, Tony Stark? NO! Well, I guess with another Dark Knight movie, but we won't be seeing another one of those movies for uh, well, not anytime soon. The Last time we saw Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) on the big screen, was in Marvel's The Avengers. I personally call it The Avengers, but Marvel is picky. Tony Stark was fighting evil aliens with "The Demigod, The Super Soldier, A man with terrible anger-management issues, and couple master assassins!" *Notice I'm quoting the movie? Yeah, I've seen it 20 or 30 times. Well, You've probably seen the trailer, for Iron Man 3,  and after three years of waiting for another one of his own movies, I have to say that this is going to be the best. This time he won't be fighting aliens, but he will be taking on a bigger, more powerful being: Emotional Stress! Oh, and that other guy, the Mandarin, but you know, no one cares about him. I'm only kidding. After the events that took place in The Avengers, our courageous hero will be suffering from stress. Not only is he weary from the fighting, but also knowing the fact that humans are not alone in the universe. The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), the actual villain, originally fell from the sky with alien powers, however, writer Drew Pearce tweaked it. The Mandarin, being new and not quit improved, doesn't fly, doesn't have 10 rings, and the rings that he does have, don't do anything special (he just doesn't like relationships!). So be sure to see Iron Man 3 in theaters on May 3rd!
*Help from EW's Josh Rottenberg (Josh, love the name!)

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS
Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) are back in the U.S.S Enterprise. 4 years have passed, and now, the rumored Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) will be the worlds greatest threat. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars VII, Super 8) will return as Director and Producer. Not as much background has been released for this movie. However, the trailers sure look promising!
*Help from Geoff  Boucher

MAN OF STEEL
After kicking of the summer with the rich and powerful Tony Stark, It may be a good idea to tone it down a notch with a ordinary, (NOT) plain old Daily Planet reporter, Clark Kent, maybe? Yes, Clark is back after the  box-office bomb Superman Returns, and the recently ended Smallville TV series. This time, a more realistic take. If you haven't read one of my Man of Steel articles, I highly recommend checking them out now. Over the years, many actors have played the role of Clark Kent. Including Christopher Reeve, Tom Welling, and Brandon Routh. I have to say, Henry Cavill looks like one of the best. Lex Luthor, Superman's most well known villain, will not be appearing in the new Superman, but another villain will (obviously). This time, Michael Shannon (Jonah Hex, Pearl Harbor) will take the role of General Zod. June 14 marks the the release of hopefully the best superman film since the 70's.
*Help from EW's Anthony Breznican

That's all for now. More Awesome stuff coming soon!
THX for the 1000 readers!

Open Discussion #7 Technology Ruling Out Books?

What's up dudes!? It's Josh here with another open discussion. Now I know I have it has been a few weeks since my last review. I'm sorry about that. I don't always have time to write a review. I find open discussions easier to write. Also, I want to apologize for the missing Minecraft Adventure Monday. I've been busy but I am getting on track. If you've noticed, I have put out some news so I have not completely abandoned this blog. Or my comic book blog. Speaking of which, I just put out a new Justice League of America review yesterday so go check that out. So without further boringness, let's get started with the open discussion.
_________________________________________________________________________________

So, (I have to stop starting posts with "so") this week we're going to be looking at technology. Now I know I've three or four open discussions about technology, but this week, it's going to be a little different. Recently, I've been ranting about the future of technology, and gaming to be specific, but today, I'm going to kind of rant about technology affecting our world. In the last few years, we've gone from going to the library for a few hours to read, to downloading books onto our Kindles and iPads. If the memory is still in there, can you remember what it was like to pick up a brand new book, sitting down on a couch under a blanket, and opening to the first page of your actual book, and sinking your face deep into it. The texture of the pages, the pages... okay, now I'm starting to sound really geeky. Anyway, you know what I'm trying to say. What happened to old fashioned books, you know, the ones made with pieces of paper and the stitched binding? Ask your grandparents what they used to learn, and they'll say that the Internet of they're childhood (and adulthood) was encyclopedias. Yeah, you remember those, organized by letter, huge, usually have the same thing printed on the spine of each one? Who am I kidding, those things are ancient!

That was kind of a weird way to end a discussion!
Anyway, Thanks for reading!

Bonus Open Discussion: Star Wars Spin-Offs?

It's Saturday and that means... oh yeah, I forgot! today is a bonus open discussion. I'm doing this to make it up to you for my late Minecraft adventure. So technically this doen't count as a real open discussion. Or else the title would have been "Open Discussion #5" so lets get started! Star Wars spinoffs is today's title what does that mean exactly? Well it means that Lucasfilms has been purchased by Disney and now they want episodes 7-9. BLAH BLAH BLAH, that was November news. But now Disney has confirmed at least two spin-offs. Now this is kind of news so I don't want to bore you with news you already heard. But this open discussion is mainly my ideas (and your ideas if you comment.) about what they should consider if they are going to branch off from the original franchise. I think a Yoda movie has been talked about a bit. That would neet. As long as he can kick butt like he does in 2 & 3! Yoda is an easy character to make fun of. So in reality, a Yoda movie might not be taken seriously and is a pretty good way to lose money. I've also heard some talk about Boba Fett as a kid. Wow! You would probably have to be a really hard core fan to be interested in seeing that movie. Han Solo with his own movie? You can't not cast Harrison Ford. Except River Phoenix. If you have seen the third Indiana Jones movie than you might understand what I am trying to say. Unfortunately, he was on drugs and died. DRUGS RUINED THE CHANCE OF A GOOD STAE WARS SPIN-OFF! Okay but seriously, drugs are no cool. Do you want to take something that killed so many good actors like Heath Ledger and River Phoenix? Anyway, back to the topic. He would be good if he was still a teenager. Chewy totally deserves his own movie. He earned it. Everyone loves Chewbacca. Although, once again a good way to lose money. Oh what the heck I would probably go see all these movies. One thing us for sure. I will be at the midnight premiere of Star Wars 7!

Open Discussion #4: The Future of Gaming 2

It's Friday s that means it's either a review day or an open discussion day. Today, as you probably read, is an Open Discussion day.

So a while ago I posted an open discussion about the future of gaming. I explained how the experience is always better than a tablet or portable device. I spoke with someone from TrinityWired, he explained how all technology is changing and gaming is changing as fast as anything else. So without further interruption, I present, The Future of Gaming 2

So I was reading an article from IGN the other day and it was talking about the PlayStation4, the XBox 720, and the Wii U. I noticed that I haven't heard any news at all about the Wii, PlayStation3 or the XBox 360. So I Googled the consoles only to find that they were all getting discontinued in 2014. That shocked me. The wii is so unique compared to all the other consoles. How could Nintendo do that? The XBox 360 by far the best experience for F.P.Ss (First Person Shooters). Especially because you don't need a special controller like you would in those BuckHunt games on the Wii. Plus, Sony just released the PlayStation All Stars game for a PS3 exclusive.

That's another thing I wanted to cover: exclusives. Wii all know that the Wii is the best experience for Nintendo exclusives. Mario and Zelda won't be available in a good experience for gamers. Like I said, the F.P.S. gamers go with the XBox 360 when it comes down to those. Like no one plays Call of Duty on the Wii. They only make MW3 and Black Ops for Wii. The PS3 is the way to go for platforms like Rayman and PlayStation All Stars.

I guess the three can come in evenly for open world games like Lego games and Saints Row games.
The other new gaming systems of 2013 are the SteamBox, the Project Shield, and the untitled Sony portable divice.

Systems that will be discontinued in November"
Wii
PlayStation3
XBox 360
DS
DSi
DSiXL
3DS
PS Vita

this is the end for this weeks Open Discussion.

Next Friday is a CaptainSparkez review.
Next Monday is a new Minecraft Adventure

Next Wednesday on my other blog is a DC review; Nightwing Vol 1

Open Discussion #3: The Future of Gaming

So, we all know that one day, gaming through consoles is going to end. But just that thought is weird, the gaming experience is so much better on a console like a Wii or XBox, eventually, it will all be on tablets and stuff like an iPad or iPhone. Gaming is just one part of it.

"My experience with technology has shown me that in the long run, expensive hardware based technology is always made obsolete by software. As an example, a home computer with video editing software can now do what hundreds of thousands of dollars of video equipment could do ten years ago."
                                                       -Steve Siebers, TrinityWired
________________________________________________________________________

Inexpensive multi-task hardware like some phones, tablets, and good laptops are replacing so much technology that isn't ten years old. The iPhone 5, for example, can replace a Global Positioning System, or G.P.S., MP3 player, microphone, digital camera, and much more.

Back to gaming, the biggest theory right now is that soon, all gaming will be done on portable devices. If your a gamer, like me, you might be disappointed. Like I said, the gaming experience is always better on a console. Another thing is how much creativity gets put in to these consoles. Take the Nintendo Wii for example. There are so many things that make the Wii different from other console like an XBox or PlayStation. First of all, the controllers are so different. You can create your own avatar to play in all kinds of games. Overall, the gaming experience is better on a console as of right now. Time will tell

Open Discussion #2 : Star Wars TV Series?

So as many of you already know, there are actually plans for a Star Wars TV show. Rick McCallum, producer of the franchise, actually has a whole story-arch, and a few episode scripts. Nothing has been confirmed, but that just leads us into what I want to discuss.

STAR WARS TV SHOW: DO'S & DON'TS

Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 come out starting 2015.

The TV series should somewhat relate to the newest movies. The only two problems I can think of are

1. The budget for the show should be reasonable. The Effects should be great, just the better the effects, the more expensive the show will get. This Show is the last thing we want to see get shut down like Terra Nova.

2. THE LEGENDARY MUSIC! If you're going to make anything Star Wars, you can't do it without John Williams' outstanding score. The most recent thing I can imagine him doing would be Jurassic Park 4^ or or Robopocolypse.

This raps up today's open discussion!

Open Discussion #1 Justice League Movie Possibilities

Welcome to the first open discussion on this blog. We just talk. Is a Justice League live-action movie even possible? It just seems to unrealistic. not that Batman alone isn't enough, but we can tell that Christopher Nolan wants to stay pretty realistic. Superman is a different story. Aquaman,The Flash and Wonder Woman will just take the franchise downhill.

If I could Choose a cast it would be the following

Batman: Christian Bale
Superman: Henry Cavill
Aquaman: Sam Worthington
Wonder Woman: Lynn Collins
Green Lantern: Ryan Reynolds
Green Arrow: Stephen Amell
The Flash: Bradley Cooper

Yeah. Tell me what you think
